I'm a wife, mom of two toddlers (4 and 2), former elementary school teacher, dog mom, and lover of sleep. I love spending time with family, curling up on the couch watching a good TV show, crafting, and doing home renovations with my husband. Having independent sleepers gives me time to do the things I love.
When I had my daughter in 2020, I was a first-time mom learning how to take care of a baby during the height of a global pandemic. My daughter slept pretty well in the early weeks as a newborn, but around six weeks, sleep got much harder, and she had her days and nights mixed up. I realized I knew absolutely nothing about baby sleep, so I reached out to my sister-in-law who had three kids that slept 12 hours at night since they were young. She helped me understand the basics of baby sleep and establish a routine to get my daughter sleeping better. In a few days, night sleep drastically improved, she began sleeping longer stretches at night, napping better, and was sleeping through the night at just over 3 months old. Learning about baby sleep became my newest passion and I continued to learn more about baby and toddler sleep as my daughter got older and we welcomed our son in 2022. He was born 6 weeks prematurely, so his earlier weeks looked a little different, but I was more prepared and empowered to help my son establish independent sleep when the time came.
I know that not everyone has someone who can help them understand and set a routine for their child. There can be so much conflicting information on social media and the internet - it can become confusing and overwhelming really quickly, especially if you are already sleep deprived. Our bodies need sleep to grow, repair, and restore (it is a biological necessity), but when children aren't sleeping, neither are their parents. Sleep deprivation affects mental and physical well-being, which can create dysfunction in your life and, in the most severe cases, it can impair judgment and lead to unsafe practices.
I've enjoyed helping exhausted friends and family get the sleep they need to function properly and THRIVE, instead of doing their best to survive day to day. This led me to turn my passion for healthy sleep into an opportunity to support more exhausted families by certifying as a pediatric sleep consultant through The Center for Pediatric Sleep Management. I devoted weeks of time to learning about the science of sleep, safe sleep practices, and effective methods to sleep train children ranging in age from infancy to early childhood as well as how to establish routines and lay a healthy sleep foundation for newborns. My 15 years of working with children in daycare/camp and elementary school settings, my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education, certification as a pediatric sleep consultant, and my experience as a mom have given me the knowledge and expertise to guide parents of young children in establishing better sleep habits. I want to help you tune out all the noise by truly listening to your sleep struggles and needs, developing a personalized plan to get sleep on track, and being there to support and guide you through the whole process. This is not just a course that you purchase and hope for the best; this is an investment in better sleep with a coach that really cares about your family's sleep who will guide you through the whole process, encouraging and cheering you on along the way.
